Heard on the RADIO!
                 The saying "It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey" comes from:
                  A brass monkey is the brass tray used to stack a pyramid of cannon balls seen by old style cannons.
           (This was commonly used on ships to keep the baslls from rolling around)
On extremely cold days the tray shrunk faster than the iron cannon balls.
When the bottom layer poped out of the tray, the pile fell.
Hence the term above.
This is actually a Mortar NOT a cannon
